PLEASE DO NOT UNPIN THIS TOPIC. THIS IS TO HELP PEOPLE FROM AVOIDING GETTING HACKED.
Seeing that as many people have been getting hacked left and right lately, I feel I should make this guide/tutorial, with some steps that you can take, whether in or out of the order they were written.
NOTE: YOU MAY FEEL THIS GUIDE IS LONG, BUT IT CAN POTENTIALLY STOP YOU FROM BEING HACKED!
Step 1: ALWAYS remember not to share your Habbo details on any site other than
Habbo.com! Some hackers make fake sites, to try to get you to put in your Habbo account details there. So always check and make sure the URL of the site starts with "habbo.com/"
Step 2: A very common trick of Hackers, is they like to tell you that there is some Habbo of the Year competition, and they're in it. They will direct you to a site that looks like Habbo, but the URL will never start with "habbo.com/". Always check the URL first!
Step 3: DON'T tell others your details to your Habbo account, unless you trust them 100%. Especially when others ask you for them, say no to them (unless you really, really, trust them)! That's how some people get hacked.
Step 4: Make sure you have set your "Safety Lock" for your Habbo Account. There will be a small guide at the end to guide you on how to do so.
Step 5: Have anti-virus software and firewall software, and do weekly virus scans on your computer, to ensure there is no malware, spyware, trojans, "back doors", or similar.
Step 6: Are you using an encryption for your home broadband modem, that isn't WEP? WEP encryption isn't as strong as you think, and can be cracked easily. If you're using WEP, switch to WPA or WPA2.
Step 7: Are you using a strong password for both your email and Habbo? A strong password should be more than 10 characters long, and include at least letters and numbers, and to make it even stronger, use uppercase and lowercase letters, punctuation marks (Like the characters below, if the game/email site allows it).
Step 8: Change your passwords at least once every 2 weeks if possible, or even once a month. That should keep hackers from guessing your password. If you can't be bothered to do, just use a strong password, and follow the rest of the steps. That should still keep you safe enough.
Step 9: Do not click on any random links that does not say what it is from people you do not know! If you're not sure, just to be safe, use COMODO Virtual Kiosk that comes with COMODO's Internet Security Suite. This official guide can teach you how to use it!
Step 10: If you get hacked or banned, you should immediately contact Customer Support, as they can still help to some extent in some occasions. Make a Request to Customer Support at: help.habbo.com/requests/new
By following these steps, you would be safer than others, as you would be more protected against hackers. These steps also tend to stop most of their tricks that they come up with.
Until then, stay safe out there, both on the Internet and in the Outside World!
And here's a small advice from iBigKrab:
My Advice: AVOID CREEPY PEOPLE!...... Yeah that's it
